BELGRADE, 18 January 2022 - OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Secretary General Roberto Montella is currently in Belgrade, Serbia, meeting this afternoon, with Speaker of the Serbian National Assembly Ivica Dacic. The sides discussed both national and regional political developments, and Dacic reiterated Serbia’s invitation for the PA to observe the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.
Montella and Dacic discussed Serbia’s co-operation with the OSCE and Dacic confirmed his country’s readiness to host a statutory meeting of the PA sometime in the foreseeable future.
The Secretary General provided an overview of the PA’s current activities and priorities, including the Call for Action - Helsinki +50 initiative. Considering Dacic’s previous role as OSCE Chairperson-in-Office in 2015 and signatory of the “Call for Action” document, the two considered current challenges in international security and formats for effective dialogue.
The visit of Secretary General Montella to Serbia continues with a meeting with the Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, Ambassador Jan Braathu.
