VIDEO: Call for Action – Helsinki +50 meeting: "Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in the OSCE region: a parliamentary perspective"
The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly will hold a meeting in the framework of its Call for Action Initiative focused on the Sustainable Development Goals, on 2 March from 14:30 to 17:00 CET.
The event will discuss how political leaders and parliamentarians across the OSCE region can further the sustainability efforts and how to reflect any relevant recommendations by the PA in the Helsinki+50 context. The event will be part of the Assembly's efforts to bring added value to advancing multilateralism and promoting lasting and sustainable peace within the OSCE region.
Panelists include:
- Ms. Tanzila Narbaeva, Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan
- Dr. Hans Kluge, Regional Director for Europe of the World Health Organization
- Pere Joan Pons Sampietro, Chair of the OSCE PA General Committee on Economic Affairs, Science, Technology and Environment
- Ambassador Luca Fratini, Director of the Office of the Secretary General of the OSCE
- Video-message by Mr. Ben Slay, Deputy Director and Senior Economist at the UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS
President Margareta Cederfelt and Special Representative on SDGs Askar Shakirov will deliver introductory remarks.
