COPENHAGEN, 27 March 2020 – OSCE PA President George Tsereteli (MP, Georgia) has welcomed the political agreement on opening EU accession talks with Albania and North Macedonia.
In a series of letters addressed to the authorities of the two Western Balkan countries, President Tsereteli noted that this achievement rewarded Tirana and Skopje’s efforts to undertake real and sustained reforms.
Tsereteli underlined that both countries illustrated a clear commitment to the spirit of the Helsinki Final Act and commended both capitals for their active engagement with all the OSCE’s tools and structures, including through continued good co-operation with OSCE Field Offices, and, in the case of Albania, by assuming the OSCE Chairmanship in 2020.
This, he pointed out, was a clear contribution to peace and development in the Western Balkans, and the OSCE region as a whole.
