VIDEO: OSCE Parliamentary Assembly follow-up meeting with Young Political Leaders
OSCE Parliamentary Assembly is hosting a virtual event on 28 September to continue discussions on involving and empowering young political actors in policymaking to address current and future challenges. The meeting is a follow-up on an event held last spring as part of the OSCE PA’s Call for Action – Helsinki+50 initiative, aimed at revitalizing dialogue and the spirit of multilateralism within and beyond the OSCE.
The goal of the 28 September meeting is to operationalize recommendations and ideas put forward during the first meeting regarding the capacity of younger generations to contribute to tackling regional and global challenges as well as their thoughts on how they could be better involved in decision- and policy-making processes.
The event will livestream on Facebook and YouTube, and will include welcome remarks by OSCE PA President Margareta Cederfelt (Sweden) and Secretary General Roberto Montella, followed by a keynote address by OSCE PA Special Representative on Youth Engagement Farah Karimi (The Netherlands). Panelists include:
- Sahar Al-bazar, President of IPU Forum of Young Parliamentarians
- Roger Padreny, Member of the Andorran Delegation to the OSCE PA
- Shannon Simrell, US Helsinki Commission Representative to USOSCE
- Augusta Featherston, Associate Democratic Governance Officer, OSCE/ODIHR
The event will be wrapped up with concluding remarks by Special Representative Karimi and Ambassador Lamberto Zannier, OSCE PA High-Level Expert.
